The Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) is India's primary data protection law. As a platform that processes personal data of Indian citizens, Dhor.in is a Data Fiduciary under this Act — meaning we are legally obligated to protect your data and honour your rights.

This page explains all your rights under the DPDP Act 2023 and exactly how to exercise each one.

All data rights requests are handled confidentially, free of charge, and within the statutory timelines mandated by the DPDP Act 2023.

Right to Access

Section 11 – DPDP Act 2023

You can request a complete copy of all personal data Dhor.in holds about you — in a machine-readable format. We will deliver it within 30 days, free of charge.

Right to Correction

Section 12 – DPDP Act 2023

If any information we hold is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to correct it. Most profile data can be corrected directly in-app. For data outside the profile editor, raise a request.

Right to Erasure (Right to Be Forgotten)

Section 12 – DPDP Act 2023

You can request permanent deletion of your account and all associated personal data. We will process the deletion within 30 days. Certain data may be retained for legal compliance (e.g., donation receipts for tax purposes).

Right to Data Portability

Section 11 – DPDP Act 2023

You can export your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (JSON/CSV) at any time. This includes your profile, activity history, connections, and contributions.

Right to Grievance Redressal

Section 13 – DPDP Act 2023

If you believe your rights under the DPDP Act 2023 have been violated, you can file a complaint with our Data Protection Officer. If unresolved, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.

Nominate a Person

Under Section 14 of the DPDP Act 2023, you may nominate another individual to exercise your data rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

To submit a nomination, email privacy@dhor.in with the full name, Aadhaar number, and contact details of your nominee. We will verify and update your record within 10 business days.

We retain data only for as long as necessary. Here are the retention periods for each category:

All requests are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within the statutory timeline of 30 days (or 7 days for urgent matters).

Escalation: If your data rights request is not addressed satisfactorily, you may escalate to our Grievance Officer or file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India once constituted under the DPDP Act 2023.
